A Good Weekend

It was probably too much to expect Glen Perkins to pitch as brilliantly as Nick Blackburn and Kevin Slowey did on Friday and Saturday, but I think the Twins can leave Cleveland and head home satisfied with their 2-1 series win over the Tribe. Even late in the game on Sunday, the Twins put together a bit of a threat, but unfortunately it just felt like one of those days, after two consecutive games of good hitting, and even better pitching from Minnesota.

One important thing to note from this series (or, at least, the first two games) was the Twins ability to command a game from beginning to end, to get ahead and keep it that way, and for our pitching to quieten what is usually a very competent Cleveland line-up. They took advantage of fielding errors, ran the bases better, and got hits in clutch situations, and this bodes well for future performances, especially when Joe Mauer hopefully returns late next week.
